MANSO Anti-Racism Training Videos
The Manitoba Association of Newcomer Serving Organizations (MANSO) is a non-profit organization that acts as an umbrella organization for 70+ settlement, resettlement and integration service providers in Manitoba. Settlement organizations in Manitoba are located on Treaty 1, 2, 4, and 5 Territories, the ancestral lands of the Anishinaabeg, Anish-Ininiwak, Dakota, Dene, Ininiwak (Cree) and Nehethowuk, and on the homeland of the Métis people.
As settlers on these lands, it is our responsibility to identify and dismantle the structures of settler colonialism, white supremacy and racism that resulted in past and current colonial violence against Indigenous peoples as well as violence against other racialized communities. MANSO stands in support and solidarity against the injustices many communities face today, and we firmly denounce racism in all its forms. We acknowledge the responsibility we have as an umbrella agency for settlement service providers, as employers and as individuals, to ensure we do better on the path to social equality.
In May 2021, the Anti-Racism Policy Resolution for the settlement sector was passed by MANSO member organizations to reflect this commitment. In the Summer of 2021, funded by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), MANSO developed and produced a sector-wide Anti-Racism project, which included three live training sessions for different groups of participants, three workbooks to accompany each training and three videos to be shared as resources for MANSO member organizations and their board members.
